  • Certifications: If you're serious about marketing, get certified by Google or Facebook. These credentials serve as proof that you’ve got the knowledge to back up your skills.

  • Attend Workshops and Webinars: Many organizations host online workshops and webinars. You can learn new marketing skills and network with other pros. It’s a great way to stay updated while making valuable connections.

  • Internships or freelancing: Nothing beats hands-on experience. Internships or freelance gigs let you apply what you've learned. They help you build a portfolio that shows your skills.

One of the job seekers I worked with recently had been job hunting for months and had yet to be successful. After updating her resume and portfolio, she got a great marketing job in a few weeks. Here’s what you need to know about the requirements for applying for a job in the Philippines.


  • Updated Resume: Your resume should reflect your new skills. Include any relevant marketing courses, certifications, or projects you’ve completed. I’ve seen candidates struggle because their resumes didn't show their new skills. Make sure yours is up to date, highlighting what makes you a strong candidate in today’s job market.

  • Portfolio: A portfolio can be a great asset. It helps if you have created content, managed social media, or done any marketing tasks. But, not all companies need a portfolio. This is especially true for entry-level positions or if they're creating content in-house. A company rushed to hire one of my clients. His strong portfolio showcased his freelance work. It gave employers proof of his skills. But in some cases, if the company doesn’t ask for it, you can skip this step and focus on other strengths.

  • Required Documents: Some companies will process your SSS, TIN, Pag-IBIG, and PhilHealth IDs after hiring you. These IDs are often required. It's good to have these ready. But, don't stress if a company doesn't ask for them during the initial application. Some employers will later handle the admin tasks for you. It will make the process easier.

  • Certifications: Include any marketing courses or certifications in your application. I once worked with a candidate who had not listed his Google Ads certification. After he updated his resume to highlight this, employers showed more interest. Certifications prove your commitment to learning. They can help you stand out in a tough job market.
